On Life and Love Quotes

Life Updates

These past few days, I've been feeling a bit under the weather and my head was even acting up last night. Albeit feeling sick earlier in the day because I had a hard time sleeping, I just couldn't say no to a shopping trip in Trinoma. After being cooped at home for so long, I felt that I deserved to be pampered a little.

We started the afternoon at Conti's, where we had lunch. It being a pastry shop and a restaurant all in one, we couldn't resist having a slice of their Mango Bravo cakes. Of course, it was heavenly. :) After eating, we then proceeded to hit the shops. Since it was the last day of the mallwide sale, people went there in droves. We even saw Aica and her mom among the many shoppers.

The main thing that I was looking for yesterday was a long, flat wallet but even Girbaud disappointed me. When we looked for clothes, somehow, I just can't seem to find one that screamed "pick me!" I did buy new things but I am not satisfied - not by a long shot. I would probably have to go back in the coming days to search for new clothes and for my new wallet, too. Now, who'd like to go and shop with me? And please don't contact me if you have no patience at all for shopping. :)

On to Love Quotes

My friends back in high school know that I collect quotes. To me, they are little grains of wisdom found in the simplest words. I stumbled across both Tagalog and English quotes in a website and being a sucker for romance, I compiled the quotes here so that you guys would get to read them, too. I was surprised that Bob Ong's books contained romantic quotes so don't be shocked to see some of them here. Enjoy!

"Sometimes, our heart is like a cup filled up with love and compassion for only one person, but there is another person like the saucer underneath the cup that catches the spilled love and never let it go to waste."

"It's not the break-up that hurts most, it's the post-trauma that follows it. It's the little things that you know wouldn't have meaning anymore. It's waking up and checking your phone for the message that isn't there. It's like starting your life over again and you just have no idea where to begin."

****

From Bob Ong:

****

"A perfect partner in life is someone you can be with and talk about anything without realizing that the day was over..someone who will always listen and feel twice the joy or pain you're going through..When you start to feel that "connection," never let it go because there is more to companionship than love..In the end, when all else fails and are consumed, you will always hold on to those times when you don't even need to hear the words "I love you."

"Apologizing doesn’t mean that you are wrong and the other is right. Sometimes you just value the relationship much more than your personal ego."

"A man worthy of your tears will never make you use them."

"I can't give you the sun, the moon and the stars, but I promise I'll be beneath them, laying down with you."

"One day you will ask me which is more important, my life or yours. I will say mine and you will walk away not knowing that you are my life." -K.Gibran

"Watching him walk out of my life doesn't make me bitter or cynical about love it just made me realize that if i wanted so much to be with the wrong person..how beautiful can it be when the right one comes along.."

Personal favorites:

"All relationships have one law: never make your loved one feel alone while you are there."

"I want to be with someone who knows what they have when they have me."

"I can always take care of myself but still, I want to meet the person who can prove to me that..I can't.."

"Impossibilities become possible if there is love."

"They say, we're too old to play hide & seek..but if I had a chance, I'd give anything just to hear someone say..I found you.."

Keep Moving Forward

First off, Meet the Robinsons is among my favorite films and no, this is not a movie review. The entire film was centered on the mantra "Keep Moving Forward," hence the title of this post. I just think that it's a fitting description of what I should do, having found myself at a crossroad at this point in my life.

I have always been an optimist and I do think that things happen for a reason. Also, I am not a big believer of regret. I honestly think that I would never regret something that once made me smile as well as something that once held a special place in my heart.

To move forward is to let go of the past and look forward to a better future. As they say, the future is only as bright as you imagine it to be - and what could be holding you back is yourself. We are sometimes afraid to let go of things or even people. But we also need to understand that to save ourselves from insanity, we have to release old memories so that we could make some room for new ones. We would only be able to fully move forward if we just accept things that we don't want to happen, learn things that we don't want to know, and most importantly, let go of memories that we think we cannot live without.

One of my college friends recently asked me to go with her and work abroad early next year. She was supposed to fly this year but decided to go on the first quarter of 2009 instead. I have to admit that I have never seriously thought of working abroad as an option. Until now.

To be honest, I am not quite sure where my life is headed. Maybe lady luck is on another country, I don't know. I told my friend that I would think about it first and get back to her. I'm a bit frustrated at myself, for I am not even sure what it is that I want anymore.

It is terribly tempting to explore new things, discover new places, and meet new friends. Does it mean that I am ready to leave everything behind and work abroad? Of that, I'm not sure yet. It could be exciting; after all, I've never been out of the country and I'll be with a close friend. But I'll just have to play it by ear because I'm still praying for it.

My approaching birthday as well as the Christmas season make me happy, to say the least. I am always excited about Christmas that I do not give much thought about my birthday at all. This year, a friend of mine told me that he'll surprise me on that day, so let's just wait and see. :)

And oh, don't forget to watch Twilight on the 26th. Catch you all later! ^_^

Closing Cycle by Paulo Coelho

One always has to know when a stage comes to an end.

If we insist on staying longer than the necessary time, we lose the happiness and the meaning of the other stages we have to go through. Closing cycles, shutting doors, ending chapters – whatever name we give it, what matters is to leave in the past the moments of life that have finished.

Did you lose your job? Has a loving relationship come to an end? Did you leave your parents’ house? Gone to live abroad? Has a long-lasting friendship ended all of a sudden?

You can spend a long time wondering why this has happened. You can tell yourself you won’t take another step until you find out why certain things that were so important and so solid in your life have turned into dust, just like that.

But such an attitude will be awfully stressing for everyone involved: your parents, your husband or wife, your friends, your children, your sister, everyone will be finishing chapters, turning over new leaves, getting on with life, and they will all feel bad seeing you at a standstill.

None of us can be in the present and the past at the same time, not even when we try to understand the things that happen to us. What has passed will not return: we cannot for ever be children, late adolescents, sons that feel guilt or rancor towards our parents, lovers who day and night relive an affair with someone who has gone away and has not the least intention of coming back.

Things pass, and the best we can do is to let them really go away.

That is why it is so important (however painful it may be!) to destroy souvenirs, move, give lots of things away to orphanages, sell or donate the books you have at home. Everything in this visible world is a manifestation of the invisible world, of what is going on in our hearts – and getting rid of certain memories also means making some room for other memories to take their place.

Let things go. Release them. Detach yourself from them. Nobody plays this life with marked cards, so sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. Do not expect anything in return, do not expect your efforts to be appreciated, your genius to be discovered, your love to be understood. Stop turning on your emotional television to watch the same program over and over again, the one that shows how much you suffered from a certain loss: that is only poisoning you, nothing else.

Nothing is more dangerous than not accepting love relationships that are broken off, work that is promised but there is no starting date, decisions that are always put off waiting for the "ideal moment." Before a new chapter is begun, the old one has to be finished: tell yourself that what has passed will never come back. Remember that there was a time when you could live without that thing or that person – nothing is irreplaceable, a habit is not a need. This may sound so obvious, it may even be difficult, but it is very important.

Closing cycles. Not because of pride, incapacity or arrogance, but simply because that no longer fits your life. Shut the door, change the record, clean the house, shake off the dust.

Stop being who you were, and change into who you are.

Fallen for Cullen

You must know by now that I am addicted to Twilight. And isn't it funny that the opening of the Twilight movie would fall on my birthday? I haven't felt this kind of excitement since Harry Potter. Heck, my friends and I would cut our classes back in college just to be the first to watch the initial HP movies. Haha!

My sister doesn't really like the idea of Robert Pattinson playing the beautiful Edward Cullen. She claims he's not beautiful. Well, I guess it's a bit weird to see Rob as Edward without seeing Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter.

Here is Rob Pattinson as Edward:

Here he is as Cedric:

Whenever I watch the trailer of Twilight, I can actually see Edward in Robert Pattinson. He may not be as beautiful as the one in the book but there's definite chemistry between him and Kristen Stewart as Bella. I honestly can't wait to see the movie as well as celebrate being a year older. :)

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the Twilight Saga and I hope the actors would be able to give them justice in the movies:

1. "Do you really have any idea how important you are to me? Any concept at all of how much I love you?"

"I know how much I love you."

"You compare one small tree to the entire forest."

2.  "Look after my heart---I've left it with you"

3.  "When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it's not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end."

4.  "I have to be with you. It's the only way I can live."

5.  "I like the night. Without the dark, we'd never see the stars."

6. "Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars—points of light and reason… And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything."

7. "I can't live in a world where you don't exist."

8.  "For almost ninety years I’ve walked among my kind, and yours...all the time thinking I was complete in myself, not realizing what I was seeking. And not finding anything, because you weren’t alive yet."

Romantic, aren't they? So don't forget to mark the 26th of November on your calendars and troop down to the cinemas to watch Twilight. I sure hope it lives up to all this hype. ;)

Officially Hooked on Twilight

It's been a week since I last wrote in here. Forgive my hibernation but I spent around three days reading the Twilight Saga and like most people, I fell in love with them. My sister (Hi Sai!) bought all four books for us to enjoy. There's actually no need to tell you that we had to twist her arm before she caved in. In reality, we let her believed that we would pay for half of it but out of the goodness of her heart (*wink*), she did not demand payment from us. Hahaha!  Thank you so much Sai!

Anyway, I cannot stop myself from reading Twilight-related stuff that's on the internet. While browsing, I came across one of the cutest things I have ever read and yes, I will share it with all of you here:

A Normal Guy Vs. Edward Cullen

A normal guy would say: “I love you Baby!”
Edward Cullen would say: “You are my life now.”

Normal Guy would say: “I think I am falling for you.”
Edward Cullen would say: “The Lion fell in love with the Lamb”

Normal Guy would say: “You hair looks like a haystack; go brush it!”
Edward Cullen would say: “Your hair looks like a haystack but I like it.”

A normal guy would pick a random song from a random artist and dedicate it to you.
Edward Cullen would sing you a song he wrote for you while playing the piano.

If you die, a normal guy would find another.
If you die, Edward would kill himself cause life without you isn’t worth living.
“Well, I wasn’t going to live without you..” He rolled his eyes as if that fact were childishly obvious. “..but I wasn’t sure how to do it. I knew Emmet and Jasper would never help so I was thinking maybe I would go to Italy and do something to provoke the Volturi.”

As you leave the house, a normal guy would say: “Bye, see ya!”
As you leave the house Edward Cullen would say: “Come back to me, love.”
He smiled my favorite smile. “Hurry back to me.”
“Always.”

As you come back to the house, a normal guy would be watching TV and wouldn’t even notice.
As you come back to the house, Edward Cullen would be welcoming you by playing the piano with a song just for you.
“I heard the music before I was out of the car. Edward hadn’t touched his piano since the night Alice left. Now, as I shut the door, I heard the song morph through a bridge and change into my lullaby. Edward was welcoming me home.’

A normal guy would wait for you to make him breakfast.
Edward Cullen would make you breakfast everyday.

While you are both out for dinner, a normal guy wouldn’t keep his eyes off the sexy waitress.
Edward Cullen wouldn’t even notice the waitress was a female.

A normal guy, while driving, would keep one hand on the wheel and one hand on the radio.
Edward Cullen, while driving, would keep one hand on the wheel and the other attached to yours.

While far apart in different places, a normal guy would say: “I miss you.”
While far apart in different places, Edward Cullen would say: “It’s like you’ve taken half myself with you”

A normal guy wouldn’t care or notice if you had nightmares.
Edward Cullen would sing until your nightmares went away.
“Do you want me to sing to you? I’ll sing all night if it will keep the bad dreams away.”

A normal guy does it with everyone.
Edward Cullen only does it with one.

A normal guy buys you flowers and chocolates.
Edward Cullen buys you a car. (HAHAHA!)

And the list goes on and on.  This goes to show why guys who are experiencing relationship problems should read this particular series. What every girl wants - and what every girl dreams of - is to be swept off their feet by their men. Darn that Stephenie Meyer for upping the standards for human men. Move over Prince Charming, Edward Cullen had just arrived.

I Love God

First of all, this is not a religious blog. I would just like God to know that I appreciate the fantastic things that have been happening in my life. Family life? Check. Love life? Check. Friends? Check. Job? Check. Haha! Although most people would think that working at home is not really a job, I beg to disagree. It's actually harder. You have to focus when you're just at home and there are plenty of distractions around (I'm now looking at my nice, comfortable bed!) ;)

For all of my life, our lives, God has been with us. I owe it to Him that a little piece of my blog would be dedicated to my Creator. Since the bulk of my new writing gigs would start next week, right now, I would just like to beg Him to give me strength for the weeks ahead. Sometimes, I think that He knows what I want even before I ask Him for something. Pleasant surprises abound when we least expect it.

I saw an entry in a local online forum asking for proof that God exists. I believe that the mere fact that we are breathing is proof in itself. No one asked God to make us. We are here simply because of His infinite goodness.

By the way, the Daily Bible Verse widget found on the right side of my blog is to give some inspiration to anyone who's feeling a little hopeless. I want to end this post the same way I always end my prayer at night: "Thank you Lord for another day in my life." :)

Tips for New Writers

Being a writer myself, there have been several problems that I have encountered in the past.  One of the most common problems is non-payment of articles. Been there, done that. I really hate it when so-called "employers" would promise that they would pay you x amount of money for your hard work and then after you've passed the articles, poof! They're gone. Just like that. I've heard of and seen a lot of these incidents written in various forums. The sad thing is, we writers do not really have a protection when it comes to scammers.

The best thing to do to avoid scammers is to research on your potential employer. The ones that I've worked with in the past would have several articles to their names, usually found on the Web. Most of them are also experts in ezinearticles.com. I figured that since they have an online reputation in a trusted website, they must be good employers. And they proved to be great.

Another thing to avoid being scammed is to be wary of those people who promise the moon and the stars. If you think that the price that they're offering you is WAY above the industry standards, then it must probably be too good to be true.

Newbie writers should also be careful not to give out their home address or other personal details in their resume. What I do whenever I send my resume online is to just place in my name, mobile number, and my e-mail address. Usual online employers would not need your home address or landline number because you'll be communicating via email or messenger.

I now have a writer working for me because I'll be swamped with work starting next week and I cannot write everything. Of course, I'll still need to review her work and tweak it so that the finished articles would have my writing style. My writer would definitely be a great help to me next week and I hope everything works out well. And don't worry, I am not a scammer. LOL.

Going Back to the Corporate World

After several months of writing at home, I just got accepted to write and edit articles for English Learning books made especially for Korean students. It's an eight-hour desk job and I can't wait to get started on October 6. I thought that I will be writing at home for the rest of this year but I guess God had other plans for me.

What's good about my new job is that it's very close to our house compared to my former offices where I always had to ride the MRT. Since it's located in Tierra Pura, it's like a home office and the ambience is very relaxed. Plus, I'll get to receive a higher basic salary than the one I used to get in the call center. Sounds cool, right? I'll keep you updated regarding my new job and I'll check if they still need additional writers. Keep on visiting! :)

My First Foray into the World of Online Musings

I cannot believe that I am posting in my very own blog. I am a huge believer of writing in traditional diaries and I tend to frown on technology. But hey, I figured since I am a Web Content Writer at present, it must be destiny for me to write online. I have only started writing paid articles this year and I'm thankful that after I left my previous call center job, I realized that I can earn a living by doing what I love to do.

I'm also thinking that maybe I would post here some of the writing gigs that I would be able to find. I know how hard it is to search for homebased work and I would do my best to update it as much as I can. But please take note that I do not personally know those people who are looking for work-at-home writers so I would also not be able to assure their authenticity as I do not work for them myself.

However, based on my experience, there are quite a lot of legitimate people and companies who do pay their writers. Just make sure that you do research on your potential employers and you will be fine. Watch out for my succeeding posts!
